UK Consumers Cut Meat Intake but Have Lingering Concerns About Plant-Based Cost and Taste

According to a survey of more than 7,500 people in 10 European countries (conducted by NGO ProVeg International and two Universities), almost 50% of UK customers are reducing their meat intake.

In the search for alternative proteins:

– 22% are purchasing plant-based chicken or beef replicas;
– 19% buy plant-based pork or seafood alternatives; and
– 35% buy plant-based milk at least one a week.

When asked about what was preventing them from shopping for plant-based products: 43% of UK respondents cited price, while 37% believed that the taste was inferior to the traditional products.
